The basics

What is CredX?

CredX is a symposium on micro-credentials, badges and recognition, convened by Vancouver Community College. 2027 is our third year. Over two days, employers, government, Indigenous organizations and post-secondary institutions work on what it takes to make skills visible, trusted and portable.

When and where is CredX 2027?

April 14–15, 2027 at VCC’s Downtown Campus, 250 West Pender Street, Vancouver, and online. Travel and parking details are on the Attend page.

Do I need to be an expert in micro-credentials to attend?

No. CredX is built for people working on skills and hiring from different angles: employers, policy-makers, educators, funders. Sessions are facilitated so you can contribute from your own experience rather than needing the technical vocabulary.

Who usually attends?

Employers and HR leaders, industry and sector associations, government and policy leaders, Indigenous leadership, post-secondary institutions and researchers, workforce and talent developers, technology innovators, and funders. In-person capacity is 120 seats.

Registration & payment

What does it cost?

In-person is $395 early bird, $445 standard, and includes all sessions, materials, meals and networking across both days. Online is $149.

Is GST charged on registration?

No. There is no GST on CredX registration. The price you see is the price you pay.

Can I pay by invoice or purchase order?

No. Registration is completed and paid online at the time of booking. We aren’t able to accept invoices or purchase orders.

Are there group rates for teams?

Not at this time. Each registration is billed individually at the listed price.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, if you let us know in writing at credx@vcc.ca by 11:59 pm PT on April 7, 2027. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, less a non-refundable administrative fee of $50 in-person or $25 online, and are processed within 15 business days. After that date we can’t issue refunds, including for inability to attend.

Can I send a colleague in my place?

Yes, at no charge, as long as the request comes from you and reaches us by 5:00 pm PT on Friday, April 9, 2027. Name badges, catering and building access lists are finalized then, so we can’t make substitutions after that, including at the registration desk on the day.

Can I switch between online and in-person?

You can upgrade from online to in-person until 5:00 pm PT on April 9, subject to seats being available, by paying the difference at the rate in effect that day. In-person registrations can’t be switched to online.

Attending in person

Are meals provided? What about dietary restrictions?

Yes. Meals across both days are included in the in-person registration. Please note any dietary restrictions when you register so our caterers can make sure there’s food for you.

How do I get to the venue, and where do I park?

VCC Downtown is a 10–12 minute walk from Waterfront Station and one block from Stadium–Chinatown. Public parkades are nearby, though we encourage transit where possible. Full directions, transit routes and parking options are on the Attend page.

What should I wear?

Business casual. Meeting rooms can run warm or cool, so layers are a good idea.

When will I get room and access details?

Building, floor and room information is sent 24 hours before the program begins. If you register after that point, details follow once your registration is processed.

Attending online

Will sessions be recorded?

No. Sessions aren’t recorded for distribution afterwards.

CredX is a hybrid-first event, and we run it that way on purpose: online participants are part of the room, in the conversation as it happens, rather than watching it back later. What does get published afterwards is the synthesis: the themes, priorities and directions that came out of the two days.

What is online participation actually like?

Online participation is built into the design from the start, not added on. You join live sessions and take part in the ways that work for you. Breakout rooms are optional, and you’re always welcome to listen in, observe, or step away as you need.

How do I join on the day?

Streaming access is sent to online delegates 24 hours before the program begins. If you register after that point, access details follow once your registration is processed.

Access & comfort

Are sign language interpreters available?

Yes. We can provide sign language interpretation throughout the event. Please indicate this when you register so we can arrange it.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. Accessible washrooms are on the same floor as the symposium, with ramps throughout campus and elevators to the space. We also provide dedicated easy-access and accessible seating, including seating near entrances, exits and speakers.

If you have specific access needs or questions ahead of the event, get in touch and we’ll do what we can to support your participation.

Can I opt out of being photographed?

Yes. A photographer is present at in-person CredX events, capturing images for our website and promotional materials, and you can always decline the media release. Red lanyards identify attendees who don’t want to be photographed.

What if I need a break during the day?

Take care of yourself in whatever way works: stepping out for a few minutes, standing at the back of the room, stretching, getting fresh air, or taking a break when you need one. No one will mind.

Is there a code of conduct?

Yes. CredX aligns with VCC’s Prevention of Harassment, Discrimination, and Bullying policy, and we expect everyone to engage with care, professionalism and respect for different perspectives. Read the full code of conduct.

Partnering & speaking

How can my organization partner with CredX?

Partnership tiers run from $2,500 to $15,000, and every activation belongs to a single organization. Availability is limited by design. Email credx@vcc.ca to talk it through or request the prospectus.

Who is speaking in 2027?

Speakers and the two-day running order are announced on the Program page as they’re confirmed.
